2012: Who Will Remember? Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the Americas 12.12.12

2012 was only yesterday, when the media was reveling in the frenzy of fear and doubt about the Mayan countdown to oblivion. And yet, in the same way that Hernan Cortez was able to walk into Mesoamerica virtually unchallenged, once again Heaven winked at Earth’s plans and inserted itself, for those paying attention. The end of that age ended not with the dissolution of an era and the chaotic inauguration of a new, but something far nicer, far more Narnian and far more glorious. A feast day.

12.12.12 marks the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the miraculous apparition that seemed to single-handedly bowl over the Mexican people as they saw a cluster of sacred signs and symbols given new meaning in the person of Mary, Mother of God.

2012 will probably be remembered with some embarrasment and chagrin. I’ll have a fond memory that we survived the Mayan apocalypse because Our Lady took its place.

Sure, this may just be fun. We’ll find out at the Last Judgement. In the meantime, enjoy this celebration of artwork released around for that event.

Her Miracle Converted a Continent, inspired the devotion of millions over 500 years, Mother of the Culture of Life, Protecting the Year of Faith.

A quote from her, where she said to Juan Diego:

The scripture verses are:

Rev 12:1: And now, in heaven, a great portent appeared; a woman that wore the sun for her mantle, with the moon under her feet, and a crown of twelve stars about her head.

1 Kings 2:19: Bethsabee, then, made her way to king Solomon, to prefer Adonias’ request; the king rose to meet her and bowed low, then he sat down on his throne again, and a throne was brought for her, the king’s mother, to sit down at his right hand.
